NiYA

The Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) is a government programme of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, shaped by the mantra “One Youth, Two Skills.” We built the platform to support its initial focus on learning and development, giving young people a place to build skills and pursue new opportunities.

As NiYA grew, it expanded beyond training to include startup support, gigs, jobs and community. That growth changed what the homepage needed to do. It had to help young people move from learning to new opportunities, while giving employers and institutional partners a clear way to participate.

I reviewed the platform structure to explore how these different journeys could be made easier to navigate within one platform.

Connecting Learning to What Comes Next

As NiYA expanded, the platform needed to make its growing offer easier to understand. I reviewed how it could guide young people from learning towards new opportunities, while showing employers and institutional partners how to take part.

Keep skills development visible as the foundation of the NiYA experience.

Connect and Participate

Problems

  • NiYA had grown beyond its original focus on learning and development.

  • Young people needed to see how learning connected to jobs, gigs and startup support.

  • Employers and institutional partners needed a clear way to participate.

Solutions

  • Reviewed the platform structure against NiYA’s expanded ecosystem.

  • Explored how to make the path from learning to new opportunities easier to follow.

  • Considered clearer entry points for employers and institutional partners.

Results

  • A platform direction that reflects NiYA’s growth beyond training.

  • A clearer connection between learning and further opportunities.

  • A structure designed to make different journeys easier to navigate.

A Platform Must Evolve With Its Purpose

LEARNINGS

NiYA showed me that as a programme expands, its platform needs to help people understand how its offerings relate. Young people should be able to see how learning connects to work and entrepreneurship, while employers and institutional partners need a clear way to participate.
